I wanted to finish up my post from our last wedding on Friday, but after going through all the pictures to use for my blog post, I realized there was too many! So I’m going to split this wedding up. This first post will be about the the pre-ceremony & ceremony, & I’ll post the portraits & reception next. So as you can see from the first photo, we had blue skies galore. The sun was on our side that day for sure, as well as the heat! I’m not sure how hot it actually got, but I’m guessing in the 80’s w/ high humidity. Everyone was a trooper this day, including the guests since the ceremony was in full sun! We actually had to start the ceremony late because a lot of the guests were waiting to the last minute to take their seats since they were standing under the shade from the nearby building. The site of the ceremony was absolutely picturesque. They choice the reflection pool @ the Saratoga Performing Art Center in Saratoga, NY.
After we spent sometime checking out the grounds, the girls arrive to finish getting ready. As always, I’m eager to get the dress out & hung so I can get a good look @ it. Amanda had chosen a beautiful ivory Vera Wang gown from Ferri’s Formals.
I just loved the little ruffle details w/ the shoes she chose. Super cute!
Once the girls were all ready, we headed outside to get a few shots before the ceremony. Amanda looked so amazing in her gown!! It’s hard to see, but it had a really beautiful sash that added just a little extra to the dress that I thought was perfect!
The accent colors were purple, green, & gray. They were the right choice for the day they picked. The bridesmaids dresses were fabulous which they found @ Angela’s Bridal. Very summertime feeling & comfortable for such a warm day in May. Who’d a thought? Their beautiful bouquets were done by Price Chopper. I’ve done several weddings now that choice this store & every time they’ve done an amazing job. If you’re looking for a way to save some money on your wedding, this is a great option!
While I was off w/ the girls, my amazing husband & shooting partner was out hanging w/ the guys. Think they may have been having a pretty good time! Doing what guys do best, playing…
Then he brought out their more serious side. Love the straight, tall trees he used here as a backdrop!
Then it was onto to getting this show on the road. A very beautiful ceremony even in the midst of the heat, & it didn’t get started to after 4:30. The reflection pool was such a nice spot, little tempting to not jump in either!
As emotional as weddings can be, it’s always nice to get a chuckle out of everyone.
Didn’t realize it until after, but just @ the moment I took this shot a bird flew by. Thought that was pretty cool!
The happily married duo!
No excuses for Kevin to forget what day they got married. Sorry Kevin, but it’s a fact of most men.
The amazing group of friends & family who were the support for our bride & groom! Took advantage of this great couch inside w/ the AC!
So, I will end on this note: Romantic love is to married love as fireworks are to fireflies. Both light up the night & gladden the heart, but otherwise they’re as different as grasshoppers & ants, motorcycles & minivans, champagne & beer. Romance is like the fourth of July: explosions, oohs & ahhs & bright colors! The finale leaves you thrilled, exhausted, your ears ringing. The fireflies of married love, on the other hand…punctuate the dark w/ silent lights. Their split-second beacons are always a golden surprise. You whisper in their presence & smile. And they’ll be there tomorrow night & next year too. If only you remember to go looking for them. ~ Anita Diamant
