Face Painting Frenzy

Here they are, our three graduates of 2009. All cousins, so it made for a very busy weekend with family. We had two parties so everyone was pretty exhausted to say the least. Finlay & Madison had a carnival themed party with face painting, bounce house, sno cones, & popcorn machine while Mason had a Luau themed party & the pool was an added bonus. The face painting was such a hit with the kids that we did it for both. Especially since this was no ordinary face painting when you have my brother in law as the artist. He’s amazing & all the kids were just lined up for hours to have a turn. There were so many that were my favorites, that’s what I wanted to highlight from the parties.

I had to throw this one in though. I think this was Finlay’s favorite gift, from Uncle Alex.

And a party wouldn’t be complete without a trailer ride. They had a blast.

My nephew’s Graduation Ceremony

This was a big kindergarten graduation weekend for us, but only one of the three in my family got an actual ceremony with caps & gowns. I graduated from Red Hook Central School & appreciate how this school sees the importance of getting each new class off to a good start. Yes, it’s only the beginning, there’s still 12 years to go. I just think starting them off with such excitement & showing our appreciation for their hard work @ an early age will carry on through their entire education. Finlay was pretty disappointed not to have a ceremony, but we did acknowledge his accomplishments by throwing him a big party.

Fishing with the boys

Took the boys to a great spot down on the river @ the end of Warren Street in Hudson. Peyton has been having a hard time figuring out how to cast, but with a little patience & some practice he’s casting like a pro now. Love the muscles in his arm showing his determination to cast it as far out as he can while his toes grip the rock for fear of falling in.

Jesse no sooner dropped his line in after getting the boys set up & caught the one & only one

It may have been a small one, but he was sure proud of it.

Lucas Noah

I was so excited to finally be able to visit one of my good friends in Connecticut. She had a baby last spring & the last time I saw him was over a year ago. So I was definitely over do for a visit. Unfortunately time wasn’t on my side as they lived 2 hours away & I had a time frame to be back to get the boys from school. Lucas took a nap for almost my entire visit, but it was all good since I got to visit with mom. Catching up on on things & realizing how life has changed for us since we first met so many years ago. Life is good though, & having kids changes everything. I was able to squeeze in about 20 minutes for pictures because Lucas woke up right before I had to leave. Thanks to Francesca & Lucas for letting me spend some well deserved time with you both.

I love this face. This is classic Lucas smile. Just want to squeeze those cheeks.

Rebecca & Mike

Our latest wedding was definitely nothing out of the ordinary, which is exactly how this bride & groom wanted it. Black happened to be the groom’s favorite color so they decided to incorporate it in everything…including the wedding dress. I have to say I was a bit nervous since I’d never seen one before, & I was pleasantly surprised. With the pearl beading throughout & stitching pattern, it made for a gorgeous dress. The brides’ favorite color was green, so that added as the accent color. Thankfully the weather held out for most of the time, except for towards the end when I tried to sneak them out for some private pictures. It began to pour, but thankfully we had our trustee umbrella which I have to say, was perfect for the color scheme. As these two proved though, all you need is love & everything else comes together.

Maine 2009

Another year has come & so my family made our annual drive up to Maine the end of May. This is a time when our oldest son, Finlay, just can’t wait for. He talks about it for the entire year until it’s time to go again. He just loves it, as we all do. It’s a wonderful place to regroup & enjoy the sea & clean, crisp air. And there’s definitely not a shortage of lobster to go around. My husband, Jesse & I like to gorge ourselves of as much of that deliciousness as much as we can. To our benefit this year, costs were about half of what we paid last year. So we definitely got our fill. Even bought a bunch home to share with my parents who weren’t able to make it this year. We stayed @ Old Orchard Beach, just south about 15 min from Portland. On our way home this year though, we took a longer route home so we could see some other little ports along the water. We ate the best lobster roll & lobster stew @ a place called Mike’s Clam Bake in Wells. Then a little further south we came to York, which had the most beautiful & picturesque light house we’d ever seen. Wish we had more time to spend there, but now we know where to go next year.

I just love the face Peyton is making in this picture below. I think he liked holding Mattie’s hand.

Can’t believe the boys actually went in the water. Jesse put his foot in for a few seconds & said it went numb.

Green Business Cards

I recently discovered this really amazing website that you can get business cards made from 100% recycled material with a variety of your own images. I just received my first order yesterday & I was so impressed. You can check them out @ www.moo.com. The prices are a little higher than what I was paying with another service, but they are definitely worth the investment, especially to support a green product. Try them out for yourself. You won’t be disappointed.
