Hot Spot Family Reunion

Last week I got to meet a wonderful family who was getting together for their mom’s 80th b-day. Since most of the family has migrated to California, it also had a warm family reunion feel to the weekend. One of the families still live here in NY, so this is where everyone decided to come together to meet. Near the home, is a small bunk house they call “hot spot”…which I can say lived up to it’s name the day of the photo session. It was a gorgeous spot though, w/ views of the mountains  in front & a field behind w/ wild flowers. They were all such good sports too, but thankfully the cabin provided a nice shady place for us to get some relief from the hot sun that day.

Thank you guys for letting me spend a few hours w/ you last week. I really had a great time & fell in love w/ the area! Hope I can come back for other portrait sessions in the future.

Dulci

After months of having to reschedule, I was finally able to meet up w/ a family who I first photographed when Miss Dulci was firstborn. Now, 9 months later we got a chance to meet up again. Mom decided to have me meet them @ the beautiful grounds of Vanderbuilt Mansion in Hyde Park, NY. It was pretty humid out so we stayed under the trees & out of the sun. It was such a treat for me to get to photograph this little girl again. I grew up w/ her mommy so it’s always nice to get to see your friends having kids. Even though we don’t get to see each other often these days, this was an extra special experience for me.

She was just loving the grass…a little too much for mom @ times. Had to keep picking grass out of her mouth in between shots.

I love it when babies make the funniest expressions & faces. This was my favorite of hers!

Just look @ these cheeks! Makes me just want to reach out & give them a big squeeze!!

I bought this bucket along to try it out for the first time. Miss Dulci wasn’t really into sitting in it, so this was my only shot. But I love it!

Dulci is a pretty serious baby, but we did get a few smiles from her @ times which made me happy!

I also bought a tutu that I haven’t gotten to use either. Dulci was my first model & I just think she looks so cute in it! Makes me want a little girl so bad!!

About an hour into our session, dad finally got to make it for a few shots. By this point Dulci was getting tired & hot, but dad worked his magic so we could get a few family photos!

I love this picture! I asked dad to put Dulci up on his shoulders & she had other ideas. This is her trying to get off his shoulders, guess it wasn’t her thing. LOL

Snuggle time w/ dad. Can you say, daddy’s girl? So stinking cute!

This is Miss Dulci contemplating what to do w/ these flowers.

She quickly caught on & then we had to say goodbye to the flowers before the flowers went goodbye

Thank you to Gina & Mike. I’m so happy we were able to get together & I got to see how much Dulci has changed since I last photographed her. What a gorgeous little girl you have!

Quality time w/ Auntie

My beautiful niece turned 6 months a couple of days ago, so I decided to surprise her mommy w/ some new photographs to show how big she’s gotten. Her big smile just brightens up a room! Still has her gorgeous red locks like her mommy & we are all hoping she keeps them. Red heads are a dying breed you know, not sure how or why…but so I’ve been told. I had so much fun w/ her on our little mini session today. A little one on one time w/ auntie & getting to play dress up w/ Quinn is always a blast for me! Got to love those girl accessories.                                          Hope you like them mommy!

Rosalina

Today I was excited to once again be headed for a newborn session. A couple weeks back I got to photograph mommy, so it’s always exciting to see who was hiding in my baby bump sessions. Rosalina was 10 days old & was just as cute & cuddly as could be. Belly full & clean diaper, we got right into action & this little angel was a dream to work with. Even with all her outfit changes & moving her around she was a trooper. I get so excited too when I get to do a baby girl shoot because I get my fix of what it’d be like to have a little girl around to dress up. Even though I’m not much of a girlie girl myself, there’s just something about all the cute clothes & accessories for little girls these days. I just love shopping in the girl section for my little niece & it’s probably a good thing I don’t have a little girl or my husband my take all my credit cards away!

Love it when the smiles peak through all the funny faces newborns make! Always makes me wonder what they are dreaming about.

Had to utilize this little gift bow I found in the babies room. Newborns are a precious gift indeed!

Big sister Isabella was just so adorable & we wanted to make her feel special too, so mom got the girls in sweet matching dresses. She was so proud, & it definitely shows!

Thank you to Nadine & Seth for letting me into your home to capture some really special moments of your new baby girl. You made my day today for sure!

Baby William

Yesterday I finally got to meet the winner of our free portrait session, from our giveaway during the Albany Baby Expo last month. I met mom when she was about 6 weeks from her due date. So she decided to use the portrait session for the newest arrival. I got to meet this new little man who was just 7 days old, but you wouldn’t think so looking @ him. This boy weighed in @ almost 9 lbs. Having one son already, while baby William was still awake mom wanted some shots of her two boys together. Big brother Jamie was very cooperative once he made up his mind.

Once our little man drifted off to dreamland, the fun really began for me. Like I’ve mentioned before, I just love newborn portrait sessions! My baby is 5 1/2, so it just the right baby fix for me.

In between shots, I just couldn’t resist this shot of him nestled in mommy’s arm. Look @ those cheeks! Scrumptious little baby boy w/ all those wrinkles!!

Though I’m working on building up my own collection of props for newborn/child portrait sessions, I try to in cooperate what I can find from each family & work it into the photos. Like the rug above I found in one of the kids rooms & this velvet toy bucket in the living room.  These turned out to be some of my favorites from the shoot I think!

Congratulations again Tammy for another beautiful boy! As a mom w/ two little boys herself, all I can say is…hold on for the ride! I had a nice time meeting all the extended family as well who stopped by. It was very apparent what a wonderful family you have to offer their love & support! Hope we get the opportunity to work together again.

Swedish Delight

I love photography. Taking photos of people, weddings, flowers, my kids. But I have to say, I think newborn sessions are my absolute favorite shoots. Maybe it’s just because it’s an excuse to get my hands on a new little baby, but it’s hard to not enjoy these sessions. Only a few days old, w/ all their wrinkles & whimpers…& don’t get me started on that newborn baby smell. It’s the greatest! So I was super excited to get the chance last week to get in sometime w/ my friend Arianna’s new arrival, Lars Magnus. Now if doesn’t have Swede written all over it, which btw, his daddy is Swedish. This boy was such an absolute delight for sure. I just couldn’t get enough of all his yumminess (my spellchecker wasn’t helping me out). Mommy had his belly full, so he slept through the whole thing. He was even so kind to not have an accidents on my props, which is always a chance you have to take when you get them down to their birthday suit. Thank you to mom & dad for letting me capture some of Lars first moments of life. He’s a beautiful baby & look forward to watching him grow.

Sienna

I had the privilege of photographing this sweet, beautiful baby girl yesterday who was just one week old. She was originally going to be photographed by her aunt & uncle from California, but were unable to make the trip out. So lucky for me, I was able to fill in & capture miss Sienna’s first photo session. Let me tell you, she was a natural & just so photogenic. She was such a joy to work with as were her very patient parents. They even had the house extra warm & toasty for their little one so she’d be comfortable. The house offered great natural light & mom provided some great little accessories to make her extra precious. Thank you to Tony & Jessica for inviting me into your home & allowing me to capture some of her first moments of life.

Round Three

A friend of mine who I’ve known since we were little girls together is expecting baby number 3. She’s lives in California now with her husband & kids, but came back east for her brother’s senior graduation. So since I missed her first two pregnancies, I wanted to make sure I captured her “last” pregnancy (the last one was her last too). We had a beautiful day to do it to because the rainy week hadn’t started yet. This was a lot of fun & it’s always fun to work with people you know so everyone feels comfortable with each other. Congratulations Noah & looking forward to meeting the new little man.

Lucas Noah

I was so excited to finally be able to visit one of my good friends in Connecticut. She had a baby last spring & the last time I saw him was over a year ago. So I was definitely over do for a visit. Unfortunately time wasn’t on my side as they lived 2 hours away & I had a time frame to be back to get the boys from school. Lucas took a nap for almost my entire visit, but it was all good since I got to visit with mom. Catching up on on things & realizing how life has changed for us since we first met so many years ago. Life is good though, & having kids changes everything. I was able to squeeze in about 20 minutes for pictures because Lucas woke up right before I had to leave. Thanks to Francesca & Lucas for letting me spend some well deserved time with you both.

I love this face. This is classic Lucas smile. Just want to squeeze those cheeks.

Jiminy Peak, MA

We got a quick getaway before the snow. Our sister in law had a time share about 45 minutes away, so we were able to spend some time out of the cold swimming in the… “heated” pool. It’s not warm enough for me! Peyton agrees, we both enjoy the hot tub outside the best. Finn was happy as a fish though. He loves the water and was brave enough this time around to not use a tube. He even went under water a few times, a big step for him. Warming up at the fireplace became a routine after a swim. The first picture is of the boys modeling their new pajamas. (I think they liked them a lot.)
